WESCAN Electrical Mechanical Services provided electrical services for the installation of the two dual-fuel 130 MW Alstom Power (AP) GT11N2 simple-cycle gas turbines plus associated utilities and connection into the existing 115 kV transmission system switchyard. The two combustion turbines are housed in a building that accommodates the acoustic enclosures, E-modules, generator circuit breakers and the isolated phase bus duct. Two annexes to the turbine contain the fuel oil and NOx water pump blocks, as well as CO2 fire extinguishing systems for the thermal enclosures and combustion enclosures. A large annex located on the north side of the turbine building contains an extensive electrical room, auxiliary room, emergency generator room and space for miscellaneous plant components.

A main transformer yard is located on the east side of the low-level building and contains: isolated phase bus duct (IPB) from the generator circuit breakers to the unit transformers and generator transformers; unit transformers which tap from the IPB and provide 4.16 kV station service power to the plant electrical systems; generator transformers which step up the generated energy from 13.8 kV to 115 kV; and dead-end structures which support the manual gang-operated disconnect switches and terminates the 115 kV connection lines to the existing Brandon Generating Station 115 kV Switchyard.

Instrumentation included the installation of Emergency Shut Down System consisting of an ESD console with six ESD pushbuttons and an ESD panel with electromechanical relays; the DCS System which consists of panel mounted and table top components; and a Continuous Emission Monitoring System. Installation and calibration of in-line instrumentation was included.

WESCAN provided fire detection and protections systems for the turbine building and electrical modules, two carbon dioxide fire protection systems for combustion gas turbines and fuel oil pumps building. A deluge fire protection system was provided for the generator transformer.
